How Wikis Could Help Me

How could using a wiki help you, as individuals, improve your teaching practices? I’m wanting specific, individual examples of ways you wish you could be collaborating with other educators and how a wiki could help. This should be about things you might actually want to do next year.

Scheduling use of the lab rooms.
Sharing web sites that enhance classroom instruction
Coordinating grade level projects, such as guest speakers
Collaboration between members of extra curricular activities like clubs
Student postings in response to reading
Questions that students might have about work
Greater teacher collaboration (our 7th grade does not have a common planning period)

Hey there, me again. I was curiuos if there was a wiki following of sorts on the web. Kinda like a blog or facebook community, i guess. I know that you can create your own page, and choose to make it available to the public, but i was wondering how other like-minded wiki-ers find each other. Or if that's even a possibility. But now that i know it's not nearly as cool if you're not an educator, then i'm actually considerably less interested. Unless you genuinely think it's worth it...
I was also curious if wiki has a calender link that allows you to post your week's or month's upcoming events. i know that google has a form of this, but since i've already navigated wikipages and am familiar with it, then i'd like to try it on this. If it's available.

Social networking through a wiki would be fascinating. You'd be connecting based on your educational knowledge instead of your like or dislike of Justin Beiber or a summer blockbuster.

I can see real possibilities to using a wiki in college teaching. The platform is easier to access than
Blackboard, and the less formal wiki seems as though it might be less intimidating for students. I especially like that multiple sections of a class can communicate/collaborate about projects and assignments without having to do so through me.
